Welcome to 2nd Grade! My name is Mrs.Vaughan and I am so excited to be here at Shaffer Elementary School. I graduated this spring from Southern Oregon University with a degree in Education Studies. Although I have spent the last few years on the California/Oregon border, my collegiate journey began at Lassen Community College. I am extremely grateful that life has brought me back to this wonderful community. This year's 2nd grade is already dear to my heart as they are my first class! I am thrilled to meet and build relationships with families and their students.
In the first few weeks of school, we will be focusing on creating a warm and welcoming classroom environment as well as practicing routines, expectations, and procedures.

The 2nd-grade students are currently working on the following standards:
Adding and subtracting two-digit numbers
Informative Writing
Decoding two-syllable words with short vowels
Along with these subjects, our class starts the day with social-emotional skills. Our class has been learning breathing exercises and other mindfulness activities to begin the day on a good note.
I have genuinely been enjoying the company of these amazing scholars.
