Mrs. Chapman's Second Grade

Welcome to our second grade class page! I am looking forward to an awesome year working with you and your child this year.

What we use to learn:

We use Harcourt Math, Houghton/Mifflin Reading/Language Arts, D'Nealian Handwriting, Scott Foresman Science, and Scott Foresman History Social Studies for our tools for learning.

How we learn it:

Homework for math and language review comes home every Monday through Thursday nights. Each child has a homework folder that goes home nightly. It should have their math and other unfinished work. There is also an assignment sheet for the week in this folder. Please refer to it nightly, it is a good place to leave me a message.

Home reading is essential to your child's progress. Home reading is also a state standard. Second grade students are required to read 15 minutes a night for at least 4 days. This hour a week will help your child progress in reading. Please complete and sign the reading log nightly and return it to school on Friday. 

I send home papers, tests, and spelling lists on Fridays in their folder. There is a parent sign-off sheet for you to initial and send any comments about your child's work.
